Commenting on multiple deprivation statistics released by the Scottish Government today Ross Finnie MSP, Liberal Democrat health spokesman said:

"These statistics show encouraging progress, but much more must be done to ensure every child gets the best possible start in life.

"Every parent hopes for the best for their child. It is not fair that some parents' dreams are thwarted by a glass ceiling of opportunity.

"The Liberal Democrats stand for a fair society. We believe that more social mobility is vital to foster a strong, sustainable Scotland in the future."
